This year’s Somerset, Bath and Bristol Tourism Awards are now open for entries and tourism and hospitality businesses are invited to enter by the deadline of midnight on 16th June for all categories except Unsung Hero for Customer Service and Tourism Events and Festivals which close on 31 August.  It would be really great if you were able to encourage your members to enter?

2017 builds on the success of the past as well as seeing a few changes. There is a new Guided Tour category for tours on land and water and new awards for Spa and Wellbeing, Active and Sporting Experience and Artistic, Cultural and Learning Experience. There are also criteria changes for Hotels, B&Bs, Holiday Parks, Visitor Information and Customer Service.  Other categories include Glamping, Self Catering, Dog Friendly, Access and Inclusivity, Cafes, Pubs, Restaurants, Attractions, Business Tourism, Sustainable Tourism and Events and Festivals.

The Unsung Hero category is different from the others in that entrants can be nominated by members of the public, so if you have had outstanding service in a tourism business please do nominate them at

Robert Sinclair, Chief Executive Officer of Bristol Airport and Headline sponsors of the Awards, said “the South West of the UK has so much to offer tourists, and the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards showcase some of the very best venues, attractions and experiences. Bristol Airport is a convenient gateway for the growing number of visitors to our region and we expect to welcome record numbers in 2017. We are proud to sponsor these Awards for the second year running.”

Co-organiser of the awards Nell Barrington said “last year saw a wide range of entries from across Bath, Bristol and Somerset and this year we are hoping for even more as we have several new categories.  The awards are a great opportunity to celebrate the brilliance of this county and its tourism businesses.”

Entry is free for hospitality and tourism businesses from Bristol, Bath and Somerset as the awards are funded by Bristol Airport, our headline sponsor, plus a range of category and event sponsors. All entrants receive feedback. The awards will culminate in an Awards Dinner at Somerset County Cricket Club, Taunton on Thursday 9th November.
