  • Ferne Animal Sanctuary has been providing care and refuge for unwanted domestic pets and farm animals since the beginning of World War II.  It currently looks after 300 residents, seeks homes for cats and dogs within a 40 mile radius and horses and ponies are sometimes available for permanent loan.

Set in 52 acres of glorious countryside, high in the Blackdown Hills, it’s the ideal place to enjoy peace and tranquillity whilst taking a stroll around the conservation area and ponds, finishing with a light lunch, or delicious cream tea in the farmhouse café.

Animal sponsorships make great presents and a visit to the on-site gift shop often finds the perfect gift.  Volunteers always sought for various roles including helping in the Chard and Ilminster charity shops.  Facilities available to hire for conferences, seminars and workshops.
