Membership of the Blackdown Hills Business Association stands at over 300 business members (as at June 2009). Business members are diverse and include pubs, accountants, hoteliers, bed and breakfast and self-catering accommodation providers, artists and craftsmen, farmers, engineers, retailers, manufacturers, financial advisors, solicitors, computer consultants, graphic and web designers and many more. We believe the diversity of the businesses in this area is one of its key strengths. Readers of the Blackdown Hills Directory and visitors to local shows such as our Blackdown Hills Marquee at the Honiton Show often comment on the quality, variety and quantity of businesses selling products and services locally. More and more people are becoming dissatisfied with products and services offered by the larger retailers and are looking to source their foods, products and services locally. The opportunities are there - we hope you will join us in exploiting them!

Membership Benefits

• 1. Promotion of local businesses at shows such as the Blackdown Hills marquee at the Honiton Show which takes place on Thursday 5 August. In 2009, we had over 4,000 visitors through our marquee!
• 2. Discounted Blackdown Hills Directory listing for all members. In 2009, 27,000 copies were distributed by Royal Mail to 10 postcodes in the area. The directory is is also available on-line.
• 3. The BHBA website. As well as a full range of business information and advice for your business, the website includes a members directory to help increase the visibility of your business.
• 4. In 2009, we worked with our partners at Uffculme Secondary School to secure funding for 2 training for businesses. Getting wise to the web -attracted over 160 bookings from local businesses.
• 5. The BHBA holds regular meetings and socials to enable you to network with your fellow business people to learn, share and identify mutual support projects.
• 6. Member businesses receive regular e bulletins. This includes business news, opportunities and business profiles as well as forthcoming events news to help us all keep in touch.

• 9. The BHBA actively seeks funding that will benefit local businesses.
• 10. We are represented area partnerships and forums. We also work closely with agencies: Business Link, the Business Information Point and local Blackdown Hills AONB local interest groups.
